This past weekend, March 1 – 2, was our fourth annual Sip & Swine BBQ Festival, and – if we do say so ourselves – it was quite a success! Sip & Swine BBQ Festival is a KCBS-certified (Kansas City Barbecue Society) competition, but aside from the delicious barbecue, there was some great live music from Chainsaw Hunnie, Pickup Line, Georgia Red Clay, and Rebel Union to compliment the food. And there was festival food galore from our fantastic food vendors, who sold all sorts of tasty treats. There were also craft vendors who came out with their wonderful wares for the attendees to peruse as they munched on their barbecue.

(And thankfully it didn’t rain on Saturday, even though the forecast was pretty dicey for a while! It turned out to be a beautiful day. It was a bit overcast in the morning, but the clouds cleared by early afternoon and gave way to a blue sky.)

Kickin Fried Deviled Eggs won our first-ever BBQ Side Dish Contest!

For this year’s Sip & Swine, we decided to do a little something different. We just couldn’t wait for March 2nd and 3rd, so in mid-February we decided to start the fun a little early. For the first time ever, we held an online BBQ Side Dish Contest on Facebook. The prize was a VIP BBQ Festival Package for Sip & Swine 2018.

Basically, we put out the call for favorite barbecue side dishes and asked for original recipes. From there, our staff chose their favorite. So, after careful consideration of all the BBQ side dish recipes that were submitted, we made the selection.

Sip & Swine 2018 food & craft vendors

Our 3rd annual Sip & Swine BBQ Festival is almost here – there’s only a week left to go! It’s hard to believe that it’s been two years since the first Sip & Swine, but we’re ready for this year’s festival.

Coolray Field in Gwinnett County will be host to thousands of barbeque and beer lovers alike on March 2nd and March 3rd. These barbecue fans will come together to both sample delicious barbecue and raise funds for a very worthy cause. Sip & Swine is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) and features a friendly barbecue competition with more than 80 professional and amateur teams (nicknamed “backyard” teams.) There will also be an abundance of food vendors, so even if you or someone in your family isn’t a barbecue fan you’ll be able to find something tasty. In addition to food and craft vendors, there will be dozens of craft vendors. And we’ll also have live music throughout the event.
