Sip & Swine BBQ Festival 2020 – A weekend of BBQ and fun!

Last weekend (March 6-7) was Sip and Swine BBQ Festival 2020, our fifth annual festival at Coolray Field! It was a great time, and we’re so glad that we were able to relax, listen to music, eat barbecue, and of course, support the Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter. The great thing about Sip & Swine BBQ Festival is that it’s a KCBS (Kansas City Barbecue Society) barbecue competition, but it’s way more than that. There was live music, food and snack vendors, and craft vendors with their lovely wares.

(We were battling the wind on Friday, but Saturday was bright and sunny. It was a bit chilly in the morning, but it warmed up as the day went on. At least we had a break from all the rain we’ve been having!)

Why Sip & Swine BBQ Festival?

So, what’s the point of the Sip & Swine BBQ Festival? Why do all the professional teams, the backyard teams, the vendors, the musicians, and the attendees come to the event?

Sip & Swine BBQ Festival benefits The Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter, which is an amazing nonprofit. The nonprofit helps homeless children and their mothers in the Gwinnett County area by providing shelter and a safe place to stay. But they also support the mothers by helping them create customized Life Plans so they can get back on their feet and on the road to independence. They also help young women aging out of the foster system at 18. It’s a great organization, and we are so happy to be a part of something that supports them and the work they do. We really appreciate everyone who came out to the festival to support the Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter.

Sip & Swine BBQ Festival 2020

Sip & Swine BBQ Festival 2020 winners.

The Sip & Swine BBQ Festival is a fundraiser for Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter. That’s the mission. However, there is also the barbecue competition aspect of the festival. We had a lot of Pro teams and Backyard teams compete to see who could cook up the best barbecue. The Pro teams competed in Chicken, Pork, Pork Ribs, and Beef Brisket. The Backyard teams competed in Chicken, Pork, and Pork Ribs. Now, the question is…who was victorious?

Here are the results!
